- our Story -

A warm Yorkshire welcome awaits from our family to yours...

Our journey began in 2016 with the purchase of a holiday cottage complex just down the road in a little village called Scalby. With a lot of help and hard work from our family and friends we were able to grow the business and create a wonderful team.

Fast forward to 2021, and we decided to continue our journey... with the purchase of The Grainary, a 40 acre working farm situated in the picturesque village of Harwood Dale, approximately 7miles north of Scarborough. With stunning views over the North York Moors and a relaxed family feel, we just knew it needed to be the latest member of our family!

After a full scale 18-month refurbishment programme, we opened in June 2022 with 15 individually styled boutique en-suite bedrooms, modern bar with a plentiful variety of draught ales, wines and soft drinks plus a beautiful open-plan restaurant with views over the beautiful Harwood Dale valley and even back towards the Scarborough coastline.

You will regularly catch brothers, Scott and Carl around the farm tending to our 200 strong flock of Texel X sheep, our ever-growing range of Oxford Sandy & Black Pigs plus our very cute, yet extremely cheeky goats…all of which are situated around the farm for all of our guests to visit and enjoy!

Family is at the heart of our operation. With four children between us it is imperative that they grow up to learn the value of hard work and sheer determination whilst also remembering our most important core value…to have fun! You may catch George, Ted, James and Arthur out and about at the play area or on their toy tractors “ploughing” the fields.

Some may think we have enough on our hands however the opportunity arose to purchase The Falcon Inn… a beautiful coaching inn with heaps of character…and we just couldn’t say no! With a large restaurant, function space, en-suite bedrooms and glamping pods, and not to mention beautiful views it seemed like the perfect fit for our ever-expanding family! We have begun a large scale refurbishment programme and hope to open by March 2024.

As a team, we are very hands on and want to ensure our guests to feel welcomed and have a great time. You will often catch Lauren and Bryony front of house or over the telephone taking bookings and organising our social media and accounts. We couldn’t do it all alone, however. Our wonderfully talented team of staff strive to create a home-from-home experience for all visitors and the opportunity to embrace all that we has to offer; be it a delicious meal in one of our restaurants, the chance to learn about farming and the animals we have plus enjoying a peaceful nights rest in one of our rooms or cottages.

We can't wait to welcome you!
